ASTM F1554 Anchor Bolts SPECIFICATIONS
ASTM F1554 is the specification for anchor bolts or anchor rods that designates three grades 36, 55 and 105, each with different chemical properties and yield strengths. Originally introduced in 1994, the ASTM F1554 specification covers bent anchor bolts, straight anchor rods that are either headed or headless from materials that are carbon, carbon boron, alloy, and high-strength, low alloy steel. The standards designated in the ASTM F1554 specification govern the design, manufacture and testing of anchor bolts and anchor rods.
Grades of ASTM F1554 Anchor Bolts
Grade 36 Standard, Low Carbon Steel Sizes from 1/4 inch to 4 inch 36 ksi min. yield strength
Grade 55 Modified Mild Steel Sizes from 1/4 inch to 4 inch 55 ksi min. yield strength
Grade 105 Heat-treated Med Carbon Alloy Sizes from 1/4 inch to 3 inch 105 ksi min. yield strength
Anchor Bolt Applications
Anchor bolts typically have a nut and washer attached at the threaded end in order to secure objects or structures to concrete. The anchor bolts provided by Anchor Bolt Source are used to secure a large variety of items and structures. From flagpoles to refinery reactors and light rail to large combined cycle power plants, these bolts anchor equipment, structures and support steel to concrete foundations.
There are three general anchor bolt configurations that are typically provided, bent anchor bolts, plate or standard anchor bolts and headed anchor bolts. Bent anchor bolts have a 90 degree bend that is embedded in the concrete which provides increased resistance to secure the structure to the foundation. Plate or standard anchor rods typically consist of an anchor rod with a plate and nut attached at one end that when embedded in concrete provides increased pull-out resistance. Headed or hex head anchor bolts are placed with the hex head in the concrete in order to provide increased resistance and provide a secure connection.
